the silk road is the historic overland connection between china and europe.
there is no such thing as one route, but there are many of them.
some of the routes pass pakistan, others uzbekistan or turkmenistan.
but all start in china. usually in the city of xi'an. my silk road however starts in beijing (peking), misses xi'an and doesn't cross any chinese border.
as all of the routes mine as well passed through the harsh landscapes of western china,
and more specific the wide grasslands of gansu, the taklimakan desert that covers the entire area in between dunhuang in the east and kashgar (kashi) in the west,
as well as the high karakoram and pamir mountain ranges near the pakistan and kyrgizia borders.
thousands of kilometers away from each other.
