This chapter Burma Shave has photos from the Shan State in eastern Burma. Kalaw is an important market town and a starting point for trips through the surrounding moutains where Palaung and Pa-O people live.
To the north is Pindaya, well known for it's caves with thousands of Buddha images. To the east is large Lake Inle, a lake where Intha fishermen row with their legs, and on which border the Padaung live. Traditional Padaung women wear many rings around their necks.
Nyaungshwe is the largest town on the borders of Lake Inle and a lively town.
