welcome

Green pearls in the middle of the large blue Pacific. Hours beyond Los Angeles. After a brief visit to Waikiki at Oahu I started my real travels at the island of Kauai. Amazing sandy beaches, sheer cliffs, jungle and rough terrain probably made Kauai my favourite island. The Na Pali coast is the best example of this combination of millions of yucca trees, a blue ocean, white beaches and steep cliffs. The coast can be enjoyed by hiking the Kalalau Trail and viewed from Koke'e Park.

Although it is very hard to choose. Take Maui for instance, dominated by majestic Haleakala volcano. I watched the sun rise, hiked the Sliding Sands trail, camped at Hosmer Grove and visited Oheo Gulch on the far and wet east coast by taking the charming Hana Highway. The latter through lush vegetation with bamboo, eucalyptus and paperbark trees. To name a few.

Or what about the Na Huapala dance group that performed in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. And the lunar landscape itself, as beautiful as weird. The island is a facinating mix of modern everchanging landscapes with traditional sites such as Puuhonua O Honaunau.

And rainbows everywhere. See it here. Choose your island. Aloha.
